Expedition Lodge

Nestled in the heart of Zandkreek and surrounded by pristine, uninhabited rainforest, Expedition Lodge is located near a magnificent waterfall first discovered during a BBC filming expedition. Following this remarkable discovery, Kabalebo Nature Hotel decided to build a small riverside lodge in this remote location. The lodge was constructed mainly from hardwood sourced from the surrounding rainforest.

Expedition Lodge is located approximately two and a half hours by boat from the Kabalebo airstrip and Main Lodge. From the boat landing, it is about a twenty-minute walk to the lodge. The location can also be reached by a short helicopter flight.

The lodge features three comfortable double rooms, each furnished with two single beds and a private bathroom with a shower and toilet. There is also a kitchen and a spacious shared veranda overlooking the river and waterfall. During your stay, an enthusiastic team of Kabalebo staff members will accompany you to provide guidance and assistance whenever needed.

Multi-day packages with a variety of excursions are offered from Expedition Lodge. Guests can enjoy walks through the rainforest, kayak through exciting rapids, go fishing in the river or visit the renowned Revelation Falls. The surrounding rainforest provides excellent opportunities for spotting birds and other wildlife. The lodge is therefore ideal for nature lovers, sport fishermen, and guests seeking peace and relaxation.

For the return journey to the Main Lodge, guests can choose between two options. Adventurous guests can take a five- to six-hour journey by kayak or inflatable boat, navigating several rapids along the way. Those who prefer a more relaxed journey can return to the Main Lodge by motorized dugout canoe while enjoying the surrounding scenery.
