Happy New Year
With the start of a new year it's a great pleasure to thank you for being part of the Kabalebo family yet another year. Last year we had a unique and adventurous year at Kabalebo Nature Resort. We made incredible friends, served some very enjoyable guests, welcomed some great colleagues and got a chance to enjoy life once more. Since we're lucky enough to have you as part of our Kabalebo family we'd like to review our experiences of last year together. Here are some of the highlights and wonderful moments of 2013. Enjoy!

We started last year with the launch of our new website. With our new user friendly site we can share our experiences and those of our guests even better with the rest of the world. You are welcome to check out our website through kabalebo.com or find us on Facebook.

JANUARY

We continued in January with our participation at the vacation fair in Utrecht, Netherlands. During this fair we presented visitors with a lovely presentation of Suriname and Kabalebo Nature resort. After Europe we headed out to the Ultimate travel Show and the Outdoor Adventure Show, both in Toronto, Canada. At the Outdoor Adventure Show we launched a Sweepstake, which was won by Brooke Cote. She and her boyfriend enjoyed a free trip to Kabalebo later in the year.

FEBRUARY

In February, a group of birdwatchers spotted the very rare Copper-Tailed Hummingbird during a bird watching excursion at Kabalebo Nature Resort. This bird lives at the Tupuis (Table-top Mountain) in Venzuela and Brasil. In 1972, this rare bird was first spotted in Suriname in Sipaliwiny by Gerlof Mees. Since then the bird has only been spotted about 4 times up till 2009. Make sure to check out our site for more birds at Kabalebo.

MAY

In May we welcomed some wonderful travel agents from Canada at our resort. And in September we started offering the three Guyana's tour, an all-inclusive tour to Suriname, Guyana and French Guiana. This tour is the result of an agreement signed with Roraima Airways in June of 2013.

OCTOBER

In October we met Max Johnson, who works at the Great Canadian Travel Company. He visited our resort and wrote a great article about his once in a lifetime experience for his blog. For those of you, who'd like more information about Suriname and Kabalebo, check out the review here. Near the end of October we visited the 25th edition of the International Tourism and Travel Show in Canada. During this travel show we introduced our resort to the new visitors, gave old visitors an update and helped people plan the vacation of their lifetime.

NOVEMBER

In November we upgraded the communication system at Kabalebo Nature Resort and added WiFi. Now our guest can get connected anytime.

2013

All in all we had a great year filled with wonderful people. So, as said before, thanks for being part of our unique experiences in 2013, we look forward to having even better experiences together in 2014. From the entire management team and staff of Kabelebo Nature resort all the best in 2014.

Nature lovers come and visit paradise
Nature lovers come and visit paradise
Suriname is an Amazon paradise and a land of many of nature's wonders. Being part of a country with such a rich variety of nature its no wonder that at Kabalebo Nature Resort nature lovers have the time of their lives. In our previous newsletters we already introduced you to some of the amazing animals that live near Kabalebo.

One being a jaguar family that lives near the cabana's. These jaguars can be seen daily and many guest have enjoyed a close but safe encounters with these animals. We also pampered our Facebook followers with beautiful images of scarlet macaws. These colorful birds can be seen almost everywhere in our resort.

Today we'd like to highlight some other members of the animal family at Kabalebo Resort. One of these is the Red Howler Monkey's. Yes, we said monkey's ;-). We have a small family of about 6 monkey's living near the resort. This family recently had a baby who is the pride of the pack. The monkey's have been living near the resort since 2010 and have been seen near the cabana's (park), the landings-area and along the pad through the forest leading up to the cabana's.

They are usually seen in the morning or at the end of the day, so the early birds will certainly have an encounters with these wonderful creatures. While you might wake up with the typical sound of the red howler monkey's (sound sleepers might sleep through the monkey's morning orchestra), meeting them in person is even more impressive. Red Howler monkey's live in groups of 6 to 12 members and because they do not reproduce until late in live, the group stays constant for quite some time. This species relies heavily on fruit for their meals and at our resort we have plenty of you leaves, twigs, fruits and seeds for the monkey's.

During your visit the guide will assist you in feeding these monkey's and seeing them up close. Guest of the cabana's are guaranteed to see them. Usually these guest spread the word to those staying in the other lodges, such as Main lodge and inspiration point. We invite you to come visit our resort and enjoy some nice fruits in the morning.

For those of you who have been following us closely on social media our next guest isn't unknown. We already posted various pictures of the tapirs bathing in the Kabalebo river early 2013. Why are we bringing them up again? Well simply because they are so darn cute, don't you agree?

Though the species is classified as endangered or vulnerable, we at Kabalebo are blessed to have them living happily at our resort. The size of tapirs varies, but most of the tapirs at our resort are quite the big boys and are about 1.5m long and about 1m in height. The tapir's diet consists of fruit, berries, and leaves, particularly young, tender growth. During the trips on the river you'll surely see some tapirs near the shore or bathing in the river.

We'll see you soon at our resort, so we can share with you the wonderful animal kingdom at Kabalebo Nature Resort.
